Walking extra miles to lose weight?

I am weighing around 83 kgs, 27M,5'7". I walk for about 2.5-3.5 miles everyday in about an hour. I want to add extra miles to my walking. How long can I extend my walking? Can I walk upto to 5-6 miles everyday? Will those extra miles help me in losing weight?
