I can't hook up xbox live, the ethernet slot is filled, what do I do?

I'm trying to hook up xbox live for my 360, but I can't find a spot on my computer for an ethernet cable, there is only one, and it is occupied by the box that the hughs net company gives you. And the box has only one spot as well, which hooks to the computer. What do I do?
